GOLDEN HANDCUFFS

I am involved through TomorrowToday in setting up a division called TomorrowWisdom.
Go there: www.tomorrowwisdom.biz We have two main directions with this business unit. Namely the retiring boomer generation ( the first group turn 60 this year) and secondly addressing how the loss of knowledge and skill of this group could affect organisations. I have completed a course called Retirement Options. The profile test here helps an individual to plot across 15 success factors where they may fall short in the future.Studying aging populations has proven that leisure activities alone will not bring meaning to life and that this group could live in retirement for as long as they were in the work place. For many this is a terrifying thought. I hope to help these individuals understand who they are, what skills they have and link them to groups and organisations where these skills will be needed. At the other end of the spectrum, organisations are losing valuable skills and often do not have the process in place to manage knowledge continuity. Many South African companies are already feeling the impact of middle management being in a state of chaos.
For individuals heading towards this stage of life I ask three questions?
Do you know who you are without your organisation?
Are you scared to leave the workplace that you love, you would rather die on the job?
Are you feeling pressurised to cope and survive in a work environment that you hate?

If any of these questions ring true it would be wise to start addressing the possible problems that could arise and start to find solutions. The problems will not go away, they will only loom more and more. The future could be one of the greatest times of your life. Will you be handcuffed or free? Your Choice ?
