Hired hands or Hired Hearts?

In a company where the leader has an autocratic style of leadership there is not enough concern for the growth of the humans working within that organisation. The main purpose is the bottom line . I believe that in this kind of structure one mainly will have Hired Hands. They come to work, collect their pay cheque but very seldom do you get true buy in.
With a servant leadership style the main purpose is the growth of the people working within the organisation. What amazes me is that in this kind of model the people never question extra time and effort because they know the leader cares for them and they are willing to add the extra value when necessary. These people are Hired Hearts.
What kind of people do you have in your organisation?

Servant leadership, although much spoken about is so rarely seen in practise. How priviledged I feel to have worked with a number of leaders who were the picture of servant leadership everyday. It really does make it easier to give your heart to what you are doing instead of just your hands.
